Motor yacht cruising along a mountainous coastline

Sell the yacht before it touches water

The months before launch are the best sales time a new model will ever have. Most manufacturers spend them waiting.

Here is how most new models reach the market. The yacht is finished. A photographer is booked for the launch. The film is edited after the sea trial, the campaign goes live, and then everyone waits for the phone to ring.

By then, the most valuable months are already gone. Between the first drawing and the first sea trial, buyers are curious, they haven’t committed to anything else, and they love being early. If nobody shows them your yacht during that time, someone will show them theirs.

The goal is simple. When the yacht touches water, the first buyers should already be waiting for it.

Start with the buyer, not the boat

Before anything is filmed, decide exactly who this model is for. An owner stepping up from a smaller boat wants reassurance and space. An experienced owner adding a second yacht wants performance and detail. Different people need different films and different ads. Get this wrong and everything after it is aimed at the wrong person.

The build is your best story

The hull coming out of the mould. The interior taking shape. The people at the yard debating a detail nobody else would notice. Buyers at this level want to see that care, and most manufacturers never show it.

A short film every few weeks keeps the model in people’s minds for months before anyone can book a viewing. It’s exactly what we plan our shoots around: one or two days on location, cut into enough content to keep your channels busy for two to three months.

Buyers forget a yacht they saw once. They remember the one they watched being built.

Give the interest somewhere to go

This is where most launches leak. People watch the film, like it and leave, because there is nowhere for them to go. Give the new model its own page from day one, with the renders, the key figures and an early specification sent in exchange for an email address. Every curious visitor becomes a name on your launch list. That’s the job of a lead funnel, and it is far easier to build now than after the launch.

Build the audience before you need it

Set up tracking before the first update goes out. Then everyone who watches the build films or opens the model page can be reached again with the premiere film, the show invitation and the first viewing dates. On launch day, your campaigns are no longer talking to strangers. They are talking to people who have followed the yacht for months.

Work back from the premiere

If the model premieres at a show, put the date in the calendar and plan backwards: private viewings for your list, a short campaign to the right buyers in the weeks before, the film ready for the screens on the stand. Arrive with appointments, not hopes.

Where we come in

This is the work we do for manufacturers: the films that tell the story of the build, the page that collects the interest, and the campaigns that bring the right people back on launch day. If you have a model coming up, let’s talk early. The sooner we start, the more of those months work for you.
